Despite driving in the pouring rain to and from Mottisfont Abbey and gardens, our visit was fortuitously enjoyed in the sunshine!
Met by four delightful National Trust volunteers, we were guided around the grounds in small groups. They provided an excellent explanation of the Abbey’s history and continuing development of the gardens to their former style and layout.
Refreshments taken alfresco; strolling at our leisure through the stunning and spectacular rose gardens – most of which was in full bloom; a visit to the house and Whistler room; all made for a thoroughly enjoyable day and all without an umbrella in sight!
If you haven’t been to Mottisfont make a date in your diary for June 2017 – you’ll be in for a real treat.
