Rowledge Village Hall

The Gardening Club got in the Christmas mood with a seasonal Workshop on December 5th.Twelve members and their friends gathered in the Village Hall to learn how to make Christmas decorations from their gardens ( of course).
Member Maggy Thomas, a professional florist, demonstrated how to make a table decoration with greenery including holly complete with berries, ivy, yew, bay, rosemary, leylandii and winter jasmine. Participants had been asked to bring their own greenery and it is true to say that we could have made decorations for the whole village with the amount that was brought.
Maggy provided candles, holders and the all important ready soaked oasis and wire for attaching the candles. She told us many of tricks of the trade including instructions , ahead of the Workshop ,on how to ensure that the holly has not been stripped of its berries by the flocks of Redwings that arrive in Rowledge in November/December.

The afternoon was so successful that the Gardening Club is likely to be running another Workshop at a similar time next year- so if you are interested why not join us.Look on our website for details or notices around the Village in November 2016.
