Join your local Gardening Club. We offer a comprehensive programme of activity thoughout the year with the aim of holding one event a month.
In the summer we arrange visits to outstanding gardens covering the south east of England. Many of these gardens are private and not normally open to the public. In the winter, we have meetings every 2nd Thursday at Rowledge Village Hall at 7:30 for 8pm with coffee on arrival at which a talk will be given either by an acknowledged authority or a particularly knowledgeable member on a subject of relevance and interest.
Everyone is welcome, you certainly don’t have to be an expert! Nobody is going to be put on the spot and everyone has something to learn from the knowledge of others. Meetings are good humoured and friendly and the committee are on hand to welcome both new and existing members.
The membership fees are £20 per person for the year ending in March, £15 if joining between 1st October and 31st December or £10 from 1st January. Non-members can participate in some events for a fee. An entry fee may be charged by the gardens we visit and any such details will be provided as needed.
As well as our programme, other membership benefits include discounts with a number of suppliers, for details see the discounts page. We also affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society (offering a number of benefits including a free group visit once a year).
We have a plant stall at the annual Rowledge Village Fayre on the last Bank Holiday Monday in May. We sometimes sell plants at our winter meetings in the village hall.
We are a friendly and sociable group. We aim to enjoy ourselves and try to offer something for everyone. We have been very successful since our launch in Autumn 2012. We have a thriving membership which is still increasing. Do join us.
